Our aim

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

What we build in

  • Text contrast meets level AA throughout the site.
  • Everything works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator on every control.
  • Headings and landmarks describe the structure of each page.
  • Images and diagrams have text alternatives, and decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.
  • Motion follows your device's reduced motion setting.
  • Text on phones is never smaller than 13 pixels, and pages reflow without sideways scrolling from 320 pixels wide.
  • Nothing relies on colour alone to carry meaning.

How we test

Every release is tested for contrast, text size, reflow and keyboard focus on every page, in Chrome's and Safari's engines, and checked with Lighthouse. Automated testing cannot find every issue, so if you find one, please tell us.

Known limitations

  • The engineering lab is a scripted demonstration and needs JavaScript. The instruments on the same page also need it.
  • The rocket illustration on the home page is decorative. Its labels are ordinary links to the pages they describe.
